About Us

The Morningside Girls Softball Association has been in existence since 1973 providing the opportunity for girls in the Pittsburgh area to learn the fundamentals of softball in a team-based environment.

Morningside is located in the East End of Pittsburgh near the neighborhoods of Highland Park, Shadyside, Point Breeze, Bloomfield, Garfield, Larimer, East Liberty, Friendship, Stanton Heights, Squirrel Hill, Oakland, and Lawrenceville.    Girls throughout the City of Pittsburgh and surrounding suburbs participate in our league.  Morningside Girls Softball is open to any girls in the Pittsburgh area and has no geographic limitations.  We have retained the Morningside name due its longevity, name recognition and the location of our home field at Heth’s Park in Morningside.

The Morningside Girls Softball Association participates in the Greater Pittsburgh Girls Softball League and the City of Pittsburgh Citisports League.

Our spring schedule runs from January through June depending on when playoffs are held.  The actual games usually begin in late April depending on the weather with practices beginning indoors in January.

We have also participated in various softball tournaments both in the Pittsburgh area and National tournaments.

The Morningside Girls Softball Association is broken down into the following age groups:

6U (Tee Ball)

It is the goal of the Morningside Girls Softball Association to coach the standards of good sportsmanship, teamwork, honesty, loyalty, courage, and respect for others while learning the fundamentals of softball to the youth of the Pittsburgh area. Our philosophy is to provide a balance between quality instruction and competition while helping to build character in each player in our organization. We believe that participating in organized team sports builds confidence that carries over into all aspects of a player’s lives. We are dedicated to providing every player the opportunity to play softball to the best of their abilities and to gain the benefits that team sports can offer.  Our objective is to offer a positive atmosphere that will encourage the development of our youth while creating lifelong memories and friendships. We are dedicated to creating a supportive environment where our players will learn to become great players, and more importantly, great people. We will create a path for those players who will move forward in the sport of softball, but also for those players who want to be part of a team and learn the game of softball.
